Students in the AMEP (Applied Math, Engineering, and Physics) major that have an interest in Computer Engineering are welcome to ask me questions regarding course selection in ECE.
I typically recommend that AMEP students interested in computer engineering pick courses from the CompE core sequence and the CS core sequence (both are required for CompE majors).
The CompE core sequence is:
ECE 252, ECE 352, ECE 353, ECE 551 (3+3+3+3 = 12 credits)
The CS core sequence is:
CS 200, CS 300, CS 400 (3+3+3 = 9 credits)
You can tailor your choices based on your interests, and then pick one or more upper-level electives to round out your program. Good electives on both sides include:
ECE:
ECE 453, ECE 454, ECE 537, ECE 552, ECE 553 (seldom offered), ECE 554, ECE 556
CS:
CS 506, CS 536, CS 537, CS 564
Please feel free to stop by during my office hours or make an appointment if you would like to discuss further.
